Legacy Gifts

You can create a legacy to help ensure the Library will be enjoyed by generations to come. Remembering the DC Public Library through a legacy gift to the Foundation is a meaningful way to make a lasting contribution to the Library while taking advantage of federal and state tax laws.

Your gift can reduce your income taxes including capital gains, and reduce transfer taxes including gift and estate.  You can also still provide for your heirs when you choose to support the DC Public Library Foundation with a legacy gift. By including the Foundation in your will or estate plan, you can help ensure that the District’s libraries will always be an important resource for the community.

If you have a specific purpose in mind, please contact the Foundation’s Executive Director at executivedirector@dcplfoundation.org, or by phone at (202) 727-4943. Before supporting a particular program, it is crucial to make sure that the Foundation understands and can fulfill your specific wishes.
