Anna Velazco is a nonprofit executive and social entrepreneur with over 20 years’ experience pioneering innovative initiatives for disadvantaged populations in the public and nonprofit sectors. She has performed organizational development consulting to over 75 nonprofit organizations, ran a multi-million dollar national and international division of a nonprofit organization, and most recently served 5 years in District of Columbia government, primarily as Director of Planning and Analysis in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Children, Youth, Families and Elders. She began her career as an adult educator in the fields of literacy, English as a Second Language, and adult basic education culminating in managing a network of 18 alternative learning centers in New York City. She holds degrees in literature and classics from Oberlin College and Harvard University and is a lifelong lover of books. She has lived in the District for 13 years.
